In 1993, George Raftelis left the comfort of the Director of National Environmental Consulting Practice position with a top national accounting firm to find a “new spark”. The journey that lay ahead would be an adventure. George’s goal was to be a trusted financial advisor to governmental utility managers and return to project management and client service. Raftelis Environmental Consulting Group (RECG) was begun as a small two-person office in the Southpark area of Charlotte.
Growing demands from our clients meant the expansion of the practice and the addition of Lex Warmath and Patrick Smyth – RECG's first full-time consultants. The initial few years were spent determining the direction of the firm and continuing to focus on our clients and trends in the water and wastewater industry. Through the next 10 years, the workload increased along with the staff and grew to 20 consultants and administrative personnel. The 10th anniversary brought a name change to "Raftelis Financial Consulting, PA” and later, “Raftelis Financial Consultants, Inc.”.
We have been blessed along the way to work with a diverse and interesting client base. Services have grown from an advisory role to providing a full range of environmental financial services. Detailed information regarding these services and the staff that leads and supports those efforts may be found throughout our website.
