About Bernard

Bernard’s career has focused on corporate law, industrial manufacturing, mergers and acquisitions, and service on the boards of companies engaged in a variety of businesses.

Bernard began his career in 1973 as a lawyer in a Charlotte, NC, firm that is now a part of the McGuireWoods law firm. He left the firm in 1989 to join United Dominion Industries, a diversified manufacturer, where he served in a number of executive capacities, including president of several of its operating segments and divisions. From 2001 until his retirement in 2018, Bernard was co-founder and a Managing Director of McGuireWoods Capital Group, a mergers and acquisitions firm. Bernard has considerable board of director experience at a number of companies engaged in a broad spectrum of businesses, including service as interim CEO and member of compensation, audit and executive committees.
