Sheryl has over 35 years of experience as a local government employee, consultant, and practitioner. That experience included serving as a Town Manager, Assistant City Manager, Assistant County Manager, and numerous department head roles; leading strategic plans, master plans, comprehensive plans, and economic development efforts. Her unique background allows her to clearly understand the constraints, frustrations, and operating environments of federal and state agencies, cities, counties, special districts, community foundations, departments and divisions of government, and community nonprofits.
With extensive experience as a facilitator for long-range strategic plans, organizational assessments, and high-performing team building, she collaboratively creates results based on the values of client-centric service, creating deliverables customized to each client and exceeding expectations. As a Certified Master Facilitator™ and Certified Master Learning Facilitator™, she is known for creating fun, engaging meetings that build consensus and trust. Her work has been featured at conferences and in national magazines and has won awards. She is a nationally recognized speaker on strategic planning, facilitation, and inclusive community engagement issues.
Sheryl is a believer in the practice of facilitation as the basis for building consensus, creating transparency, aligning values, improving communication, and strengthening relationships. She served as the past Chair of the International Institute for Facilitation, the world’s leading institution for facilitation certification, research, and innovative learning. She is a member of the Association for Strategic Planning, the International Association of Facilitators, the National Center for Deliberative Debate, and many other professional organizations.
