We’re Investing in Future Leaders

June 09, 2022

Once again, we were overwhelmed with potential worthy scholarship recipients for Raftelis’ two $5,000 Leadership Scholarships. After combing through dozens of excellent applications we selected Eva Sideris, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry; and Journ Galvan, who is a geospatial data science postgraduate student at the University of Michigan. Before grad school Journ served a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to funding, both students will also receive mentoring and have been offered an internship with Raftelis.

We know investing in future leaders works. Our first-ever scholarship recipient, Mitchell Turnage just graduated, and we hired him immediately into our stormwater practice. We’re excited to see the next generation at Raftelis!

The Raftelis Leadership Scholarships were established with the goal of supporting and growing relationships with promising students who have an interest in becoming problem solvers for local governments and municipal utilities. Our ideal scholarship candidate has an interest in a consulting career. Students with diverse backgrounds and experiences are highly encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants have proven leadership ability and strong academic achievement. Although a specific major is not required, students who have a major in business, finance, communications, public affairs, economics, marketing, and government relations are aligned with the types of majors many of our employees have. Above all we are looking for well-rounded students with initiative and experience that they would like to share with our company and our clients.

Scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are closed, but will be opening back up in August 2022 for the next academic year.
