Montgomery County, Ohio, engaged our team to evaluate heavy equipment utilization within its Solid Waste District. The County needed to determine whether assets, including wheel loaders, excavators, Class 8 trucks, trailers, and hybrid equipment, were optimally deployed and aligned with operational demand.

We conducted a detailed equipment inventory and utilization review, gathering data on primary use, operator assignments, seasonal variation, annual workday usage, redundancy risk, and maintenance concerns. The analysis focused on identifying underutilized assets, overlapping equipment functions, lifecycle timing misalignment, and opportunities to improve scheduling efficiency.

Our work provided County leadership with a clearer understanding of actual equipment utilization patterns, workload-driven demand, and potential redeployment or capital deferral opportunities.

By grounding heavy equipment decisions in operational data rather than replacement cycles alone, the County gained a stronger foundation for capital budgeting, asset right-sizing, and long-term fleet sustainability.
