To proactively manage its future, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, required a comprehensive fiscal health assessment and the development of long-term financial projections. The County needed to clearly evaluate its future budget outlook and understand the potential financial pressures it would face under its current operational structure.
Raftelis supported the County by conducting an analysis that included a thorough review of historical financial trends alongside detailed revenue and expenditure projections. A key component of this engagement was the development of a custom financial model designed specifically to estimate future budget gaps if the County maintained its current service levels.
This financial modeling provided both County leadership and the community Budget Task Force with a clear, objective understanding of projected fiscal pressures. We utilized scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of both service level adjustments and potential revenue strategies. By outlining the policy choices available to address these budget gaps, the assessment helped guide critical discussions about long-term financial sustainability and community priorities.
